• YES trainers deliver a training session on facilitation skills to a group of preselected students prior to my performance so those students can facilitate small discussion groups after the performance.

  • YES trainers facilitate small group discussions immediately after my performance.
  • YES can also provide other services, such as helping your school start a peer program, facilitation training, mediation training, and teacher/advisor training.
  • YES works with schools throughout the U.S., impacting thousands of young lives. The tangible results for the recipients of their services include improved communication skills, reductions in school violence, and the creation and revitalization of peer programs.

Dear Educator,

I am writing to introduce an exciting development in the popular "You Don’t Know Me, Until You Know Me" program. In order to enhance the program, I am now working in collaboration with Youth Empowerment Strategies, Inc. (YES, Inc.), an outstanding training organization that plans, implements, and evaluates training programs for youth. YES, Inc. is committed to helping groups create a climate of community, in which respect and trust can grow.

The YES, Inc. team will now be available to provide support services for the dramatic presentation, ensuring that the students are able to discuss and process their feelings about what they have seen. My involvement with the YES, Inc. trainers began in 1995, when we worked together as staff members at "Anytown-NJ." A residential teen leadership and bias prevention program. Over the years, we have continued to work together at "Anytown", developing strong personal and professional bonds stemming from our shared commitment to diversity appreciation and community building. Shortly after our initial "Anytown-NJ" experience, I began to work as an extended staff member of YES. Inc. in various capacities. At their youth training programs, I have participated as a group facilitator and trainer. In addition, my performance has been successfully integrated into YES, Inc. residential training’s, providing an emotional catalyst for discussion and processing in a safe and caring environment.

Over the years, many of the schools and organizations that I’ve performed for have requested follow-up services. Knowing their long-standing commitment to preventing prejudice and violence, I approached YES with the intention of creating an integrated program, which includes my performance and their invaluable services. Together, we have developed various models that can be tailored to the individual needs of your school or organization.

If you wish to speak to me about this exciting collaborative program, please feel free to contact me at 973-326-9838 and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Also, I encourage you to call YES, Inc. directly at (908) 879-8516 to find out how they can help your students create a community based on emotional safety and mutual respect. I hope that you will call YES, Inc. today to benefit from their experience and dedication.

Sincerely,
Mykee Fowlin
